Hello Fellow peeps,
I did finally purchase a Creative Sound Blaster Live, and a NVIDIA Audigy GeForce 4 MX 440,I love both very much..although "love" is a strong word, and i'm sure there are other better performing cards out there, but they suit my needs.
(Win 98, 2.0 Cel.P-4. 512 DDR Mem. a new CD-R - burner, and /DVD reader) With the additional SB sound card installed, upon every bootup, I keep getting two error messages.....
1) NEW HARDWARE FOUND - THE WIZARD SEARCHES FOR NEW DRIVERS FOR PCI MULTIMEDIA AUDIO DEVICE - Next or Cancel ---------- ( I looked under Device manager and saw no yellow conflict icons, but only saw the following:
CREATIVE MISCELLANEOUS DEVICES
a) Creative gameport Joystick
b) Creative Multimedia Interface
c) Creative SB16 Emulation
Would it be safe to disable any of these b) or c) without messing up my Sound Blaster LIVE Program
2) "PROGRAM NOT FOUND" WINDOWS CANNOT FIND "STUDIO.EXE" PROGRAM NEEDED FOR OPENING FILES OF TYPE "AUDIO CD" (I do use Winamp for Mp3's,but I used my Accessories/ Entertainment/CD player to play inserted CD's.)
( I thought the Studio.exe is a windows file.....is this something that can be remedied with reinstalling Windows 98?)
Another Error message I got was that I started out with 128 DDR memory, and I wanted to install another 512 DDR stick to have 640 Ram, I shut everything off, unplugged power, carefully added the 512 to the Dimm slot next to the 128,rebooted,then after having no Video display on the monitor, and having to re-boot several times,I finally was able to see a "WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR".
So I tried to install Only the 512 and not the 128 DDR. Would it be safe to assume that now after the system recognizes the 512,it will easily accept the 128 too? Is there a certain protocol involved with the way you install the memory? (i.e.Large stick first?
Thank You All! Have Great Weekend! Bozo:rolleyes:
