Help ! wmplayer?

Hi,
I hope this is the rite place to write this :confused:
When I put a Music CD into my CD Rom it Gives me this message, can someone Help ????????

Windows cannot find wmplayer.exe
This program is needed for opening
files of type 'Audo CD'

Ok I think this is windows media player which I have But
I checked eveywhere in my computer for the wmplayer.exe and it comes up nothing :confused:

What do I need to do and What is wmplayer and where do I
get it ?????????

What operating system are you using? wmplayer is "Windows Media Player". There are several versions of it. To find if you have it installed and you are running some flavor of Win9X,go to control panel>add-remove and see if it's listed and what version if it's there. You may need to re-install or upgrade if you have the older version...

Thanks for pointing out where the windows media player is:
I am running Windows 98se plus what ever plus is, someone installed it for me ! In control panel, it is there :) I knew it ,
But here comes the question again, its running wmplayer 6.4
So Should I remove it and get the higher one :confused:
The funny thing is it works for everything else Except when I put a Audio CD in The CD Rom :confused: Why is that ? It even works for wav files or looking at clips of movies you can see like on msn or other places, why wouldnt it come up for the Audio Cd ?

Hi.. do a file search for cdplayer.exe. That will normally play audio cd's. It should also be in the entertainment or media folder in your start/programs folder.

When you put an audio CD in, open My Computer. Right click the CD-ROM drive and from the menu click "play". If it will then play your CD, then do this. Right click My Computer and click "properties",then click device manager tab. Click the + next to CD-ROM listing. Doubleclick the listing that comes up. Click on the Settings tab. See if there is a check in "auto insert notification". If not,put a check inand ok your way out. Re-boot your PC and go back to see if the check stayed put. If so,it should auto play your audio CD's now.

Do need to ask tho',does it not play "all" audio CD's? Or just home burnt ones? If the latter, they may not have been "closed" properly when burnt. Also,Media Player 6.4 is the default player that comes with 98SE. To upgrade it,you don't have to uninstall it. The new version will overwrite it.
If you "do" decide to upgrade,i would suggest you get Media Player 7.1 . But,be sure to go into it's tools>options menu's and disable all the "call home" junk there. Also suggest you simply use the "now playing" feature and on the "options"menu>"player"tab, take the check out of "start player in media guide". You can then drag and drop any mp3's you may have on your hard drive to the "playlist" portion of the player window to play them. When you want to remove them,just highlight them with your mouse and press the delete key.
