I have a friend that is trying to install his HP4300c Scanner on his computer. He was running windows me and the scanner was working fine. After upgrading to windows xp the scanner went caput. Hes since downloaded the HP update patch for "After upgrading your OS, install this" and it didn't work. He's also tried updating the Scanner driver by downloading the new one from the HP website. Still to no avail. Any ideas? He's using it in USB format. I am going to try Parallel and see what happens.
Thanks

Try this driver:

Save the old one just in case.

Hi I have successfully done this with a number of HP scanners this site has detailed instructions you will need to follow them pretty much as they are. What you will need to do is substitute your model for the example on this site. When it mentions Delete all remaining installation files try their suggestions , if you get no responses then try HP Scanjet*(try it anyway) you should be able to delete all the files that appear. I also go to device manager / hardware and uninstall the scanner listed there.Follow this carefully it is to my knowledge the only way to get a HP scanner, corrupted install back to working order. If you have downloaded their upgrade fix, do a search for it and delete as well. What you are after achieving is no traces of a previous install on the system. Do not clear the recycle bin( if they suggest it )in case you want to restore files that didn't need deleting and for some reason this does not work.Good luck If you have difficulty post back and we will endeavor to help you.SITE:-

I agree with JENAE. I have a AMD2100 with XP PRO. I also have a HP PSC 750. That ia a combo printer scanner. It just wasn't working right. The printing could take up to an hour to print. What I finally did was to remove all of the HP software and reinstall( I THINK THIS IS KEY) . First I went to add /remone in my computer and after that Iremoves any other bits of HP. I found that if one little program was left HP didn't let the reinstall load right. SECOND, I reinstalled HP. GOOD LUCK;)
