Okay, not sure if I'm in the right forum. I recently had to change from DirecTV DSL to Cox high speed internet (cable modem). I have been playing Dark Ages of Camelot (an online mmc), and everything worked fine until I installed the cable modem. Now I get a message that says I am link dead and it kicks me off. The only changes I have recently made to my computer are: I added an NIC card (was using USB for DSL), and switched from DSL to cable modem. According to their website, this can be a fairly standard problem, but their solution (Open Device Manager. Under the section for NETWORK ADAPTERS, right-click your network card and select properties. Under the advanced TAB under MEDIA TYPE, set the value option on the right to 10mb half duplex mode) can't be done for my NIC. I don't have an advanced tab or any way to change to 10mb half duplex mode.

Any suggestions? I am about to install a 4 port router so my roommate can share the cable modem. If I installed a second NIC on my computer, would having two lines running to the cable modem help solve this problem?
I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum.

no

can you please reproduce the error message exactly ...

assuming everything else is running correctly (ie ... surfing web ... email ... etc) you could save your personal settings for daoc and then uninstall it and reinstall it ... it may pick up your new method for connecting to the net ... but again i would like to know the exact error message you are receiving
