Anti-Delete

Hi All,

Does anyone out there know how to or of some utility that can make a file or folder impossible (or near impossible) to delete???

I know I can set user permissions, but can I make the files or folders so that they can't be deleted????

I'm using W2K - NTFS.

I don't care if it is viewed, I can set permissions on whether or not it can be edited, I just want to prevent anyone, other than myself from deleting it........

Don't know about an anit-delete function in WIN.
How about using software like Norton's Systemworks? It has special protection features for the recycle bin plus DOS delete protection.
At least that'll give you an extra layer of recovery options.

Remove the modify and write permissions for everyone except you.... is that not good enough?

Permissions are not the problem, I want to prevent unwanted deletions. I need to have people view and possibly edit these files, but I would like to prevent deletion - hmmmm........

Just set the user permissions so they're mostly right, then click the Advanced button and remove the Delete right but leave everything else in place.

Try TweakXP (http://www.tweakxp.com/tweakxp/tweak_software.asp) in addition to many other tweaks it will do this for you and best yet IT'S FREE!

Hi to All,

Had I read help a little more I would have realized that I have full control over the situation with NTFS properties.
For those of you that need to know, if you right click on the folder you want to protect from deletion and select properties, you can then set permissions from there (if you have administrator rights). This is a feature of NTFS volumes............
