is there a software that will allow me to take the vocals out and just have a song be instrumental

Hi.. there are lots of programs that claim to be able to do it... here's a bunch.

But none of them remove the vocal completely. that's impossible. The only way to do that is to find a Karaoke mix of a song with no vocals.

I can't vouch for any of the programs listed but I have read that the Analogx utility (first one listed) which is also free seems to do a pretty decent job.
