For some reason all Windows event sounds, and for that matter all audio is playing too fast. I have rebooted/shutdown and this has made no difference.

To the best of my knowledge I had been trying to burn a DVD at the time. I had successfully completed one and just finished burning the second one. I played the second one and noticed that it was playing too fast. So I erassed it (DVD-RW). Then I checked an mp3 file I know used to play fine and noticed it was also playing fast. I extracted a new mp3 from a CD and this file played too fast regardless of the program I play it in. A full system virus scan detected nothing.

I burned a CD from some MP3's and it played perfect on my CD stereo system.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks!

I have a PC Pentium 4(2400Mh) 1GB RAM, Intel Motherboard, and
ATI 128 All-IN-Wonder Pro Graphics card.

Hi... that's sometimes caused by a corrupted driver. Try reinstalling your sound card driver and see if that does it.

Thanks Fink, good fix. I reinstalled the onboard audio drivers and all is well again.
