Hello

I am writing in the hope that someone may be able to throw some light on a problem I am experiencing.

Whenever I attempt to log into a Chat - either through IE6 (just downloaded for the second time) or NS4+ - I am not able to see who the other chatters are or what they are saying. In other words, I am not able to participate properly. There is one exception: AOL chats.

The chat rooms I sometimes visit have one thing in common: they are Jacva programmes and the problem suggests that I do not have Java enabled - when in fact I do (on both browsers).

Can anybody pffer me a solution, please?! Is it a Windows problem or a browser problem?

Many thanks

I'd suggest that NS4 is not able to participate because it's seriously outdated and probably can't run the newer Java that's required. Try upgrading to free NS7 off the Netscape website.

You might also consider it's the remote websites not your computer that is malfunctioning. There is also the possibity that it's Operator Failure and not the remote computer or yours that are malfunctioning, but you.

The forum can't verify whether the remote site work or not without the URL for those chat rooms so you're on you own w/o stating those.

Try resetting the Defaults in IE6:

Open Internet Explorer (IE); Tools menu; Internet Options; Advanced tab; Click the Restore Defaults button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE.

***

Open (IE); Click the Tools menu; Point to Internet Options; Click the Security tab; Click the Default Level button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE.

Open IE; Click the Tools menu; Internet Options; Click the Security tab; Click the Custom Level button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE. Start IE as desired.
