I have a problem. There are some pages I would like to post on the net but the problem is that the pages go on forever to the right off the screen when I save them from notepad. I can use word and it works fine but it puts so much extra juuuuuunkkk!!!!!! in my pages!!!!

Does anyone know of a program that will give me the ability to set boundaries or margins that when reached instead of wrapping around it will edit the document and press enter instead?

Try here :

http://www.webattack.com

Look under both Free and Shareware headings for the category of program you are seeking.

No membership or registration details required fom you - just d/l what you want.

All software Is virus scanned before being available for d/l but run Adaware in case any spyware has been included :)

Hope you find what you need

Two things to try:

1. Try using Wordpad or Word, and saving the files as .txt

2. Try printing them from Wordpad or Word to the Generic Text Only printer driver, with the driver set to print to File on disk. That should give you a .prn file with the text and line breaks.

Finally, you could use Notepad and press Enter at the end of each line.

Printing to file seemed to be the best route but I cannot open the pte files when they are saved. My original file is about 40kb, when I print to file under the printing options the file is about 3 megabites and nothing will read it. Am I doing this wrong?

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but what about using Wordpad instead of Notepad, set "word wrap" on, then save it. I think that with word-wrap on, the saved file will have the same margins displayed when viewed.

Does this help?

Nope. Doesn't work at all because of word wrap. I need a program or a way to edit the pages, putting in enter's (whatever you call it). Using pte files seems like it would work but I don't know how to do it right. I need help with it.

You will need to install the Generic Text Only printer driver if you have not already done so. Instructions for Win9x are below:

Click Start, Settings, Printers.
Double Click Add Printer
Click Next, and select Local Printer
Select Generic as the Manufacturer, and Text Only as the printer.
Select FILE as the port.

Finish the printer setup.

Thank you. Is there anything better than the generic text printer? That one causes spaces to form in weird places and also spaces where the pages are even though I set the margins to 0.

You could also try Microsaoft Word, and save the document as 'Text Only with Line Breaks'. Be sure to set the margins appropriately.

Are you sure I can do that!!! I already went through all the trouble of saving then as prt files. That was a real pain! It does not format them correctly. I'll try that. Thanks.
