2nd net window then freeze

the pop-up ads started 2 drive me crazy so i installed pop-up stopper. at 1st, it did as it's supposed 2 do then when a 2nd net window popped-up my browser only would freeze. so i switched 2 a less potent pop-up stopper & my browser continued 2 freeze. so i pressed certain keys 2 disable pop-up stopper & it continued 2 freeze. so i uninstalled it using cleansweep & it continued 2 freeze. b4 i re-install windows & lose all my updates, does anyone have any suggestions?

320 mb ram

have you tried a repair of IE6??

have you gone in the registry to make sure that those 2 popup killer programs were fully deleted?? I don't really care for popup stopper because it doesn't have a whole lot of flexibility to prevent popups...it's either all or none.
