hi gwillis, i have just looked at my hotmail account and your probably doing the same thing to sign in as me if so i,m no help, but i,ll go through it anyway. first i put in my 'sign in name' then my password then you must make a choice in the drop down box next to sign in name the choice (on mine) is hotmail.com or msn.com make sure its on the correct email address if then press 'sign in'. if that fails, the only other thing i can suggest is that you press the message to the right which says 'problems with signing in' hopefully that will help.

The weird thing about this is they can get into their mailbox on other pc's, but not ours. ????? My suggestion was to get rid of hotmail account but they aren't wanting to do that. I've talked to others and they seem to be having same problem. I would say hotmail issue, but the fact that they can log in on friend's pcs doesn't make sense to me.

I know what you mean.
the same internet same account can log in hotmail on one comp but not the other.
the one that can not log on, when use another ISP they can get in.
I wounder if its IE6 itself or some update or the way the ISP setup their Network.
Personaly i think its IE6.

just a thought, why dont you open up a yahoo email account its free and you get quite a lot more space than hotmail. just go to www.yahoo.com and click email then sign up now.

Hello gwillis!
Give this a try and see if it helps
In your Internet Explorer, click on Tools/Internet Options. Under the General tab, and at the Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Cookies, and Delete Files, also under the History, click on the Clear History buttons.
Hope this helps
Best regards.

I've had the problem twice, once with W98, someone had gone from IE6, back to IE5. I simply went back to 6. With XP I had the problem and it had to do with MSN messenger. If it has been uninstalled, deactivated or messed with in some way that could be the root of your problem. When you log into the hotmail site, it wants to open messenger and if for some reason it cant, it just sits....and sits.
Are they logging in as administrator?
This particular user wasnt the admin but when logged in as admin, the hotmail worked fine. It had to do with rights with Messenger. Try logging in as adiministrator to let them try their hotmail.
Check to see how Messenger is configured, also try some searches on microsoft.com

it doesnt have to be log in as admin, as the person user the same computer but with a different ISP and they can get in to hotmail in box.
but with my ISP it log in but able to get into inbox.
