Direct Serial Cable Link

A while ago I was able to access files from a drive on another computer using
INTERSRV and INTERLINK. It was from a WIN 95 to WIN98 system. Im now trying to do the same , but to a WIN2k sys.
Doesnt work. So I tried doing a Direct Cable Network in Win2k, but got error saying that the PPP protocols dont match. Any suggestions?
