Allrgiht call me stupid but I can't for the life of me figure out what I've missed.

The situation is this; I have two systems one running Win XP Pro and the other Win 2K. Both of these plug into a Netgear 8 port 10Mb Hub. Also plugged into the hub is a Sonicwall Tele3 which provides DHCP to the 2 systems and firewalled interent access through a connected ADSL modem.

Both systems are dynamically allocated an IP address of x.x.10.20 and xx.xx.10.21 and both have the same gateway set xx.xx.10.241. Now both systems can access and browse the internet successfully but I can't for the life of me get them talking to each other. No ping. No system found using search or through browsing. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I may have missed in getting these two systems to talk to each other?

Thanks,
Andrew.

couple things come to mind.Turn off xp firewall if enabled. Are there any other firewalls installed,if so disable them until you have the 2 communitcating.turn on guest account on xp machine and create a user acct on win2k machine with same login user name/pass as you use on the xp machine.Hopefully they both have the same workgroup name with seperate share names, make sure file and print sharing it eanabled and you have some folders or drives shared on each machine. If all else fails install netbui (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q301041) I like netbui as it allows machines to communicate even when i have some as dhcp and others with assigned ip addresses. hope this helps.
