double click ??

When i run adaware it always detect something called (default@doubleclick) it is in my cookies i delete it and the next day it is still there. What is double click and where does it comes from? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

default@doubleclick? Those banner ads you see when you enter some web pages rely on this cookie to "tailor" the ads for your specific tastes (as determined by Doubleclick!).BJ

To stop Doubleclick from putting cookies in your machine, in Internet Explorer click Tools/Internet Options/Security/highlight Restricted Sites/click Sites/ in the box 'Add this site...' type

*.doubleclick.net

then click Add/OK. You can do this for any site.

bunny571--You say "still there" but I suspect you have again visited a doubleclick site and have picked up a new cookie before running the next day's Ad-Aware scan.
Or do you know that you cannot delete that exisiting cookie? One way to tell whether it is a new or an old cookie would be to see what the date on the cookie is. Right click and click Properties.
Now if you can delete it, one way of blocking future doubleclick cookies would be to click IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|click Restricted Sites|Sites and in the empty line ("Add this Web site") type *.doubleclick.net and click Add. Next enter *.doubleclick.com in that line and click Add. (Do not forget the *. in each case.) Click OK, OK.
You should not download doubleclick cookies anymore.

There are lots of third party programs that do similar things, but this method is already on your PC. On the other hand, if you cannot delete the cookie already on your PC you may need a third party program like Spider, Cookie Cop, etc.
