Hi,
We currently run Exhcnage 5.5 in our Windows 2000 pro & 2000 server LAN.
We run Trend scanmail for exchange & viruswall on a seperate server, I have been reading alot of reports lately that you should run more than one antivirus product. Don't get me wrong Trend is working fine, just wanted to know if anybody else runs more than one AV on their mail systems?
I know the old saying 'if it's not broke don't fix it', so i'm a bit weary of adding software to such a critical server. I remember from a few years back that certain AV products don't work together, or 'seem' to work together but can cause mayhem....
Any advice welcome!
Cheers

i just use one av scanner (norton 2002) to scan my incoming emails.
i guess as long as you keep it up to date, that will be sufficient enough.

I run NAV corporate on the Exchange server (as well as trend Scanmail). Just don't scan the work or MDB directories in exchange with NAV (set it to not scan those directories).

How often does Trend provide a new signature file? Instead of two a-v's get one that updates about once a day on average.
Since virus writers realized they could use mailing lists to propagate, viruses spread around the world in hours instead of weeks. The problem now is not whether your a-v detects a given virus but if ANY a-v detects it.
Spend your time educating your users to be cautious instead of updating and de-bugging multiple a-v's.

this might sound stupid...
we have been running the whole trend suite for over 2 years and ut has been fine, updating no worries.
but i have noticed we havent picked up a virus for over a week and a half!??
i'm so used to seeing 15/20 infected mails every day being caught i was starting to get paranoid?????
i have checked everything and were all up to date and the scanner is working fine! i even got the EICAR test file off the trend site and sent this through, which was picked up!
it'as just me being paranoid.........

Are you getting less email? The volume usually drops in August probably because so many people are on vacation. And all the script kiddies may be too busy getting ready for the new school year to create new viruses.
Nevertheless, no viruses at all is surprising.

well i guess there is a drop due to holidays, but nothing out of the ordibary.
just getting a bit freaked, everything is updated and it stopped the test file, even the attachment blocking for .exe's i set up is still working.
i might re-start the server tonight see if that helps, i just fail believe that none have been sent....
a freined said their system hasnt picked anything up for a bit, she suggested that finally the ISP might have sorted themselves out with AV their end properly?
