Probs with Norton Live Updates

I just had the Norton thingy pop up saying it was time to do the live updates but when I said yes and it tried to run it said:

6002 Live Update could not process the update.

Live Update was not able to extract the update files. Make sure your disk is not full and run Live Update again.

When I clicked Help it said:

If LiveUpdate has trouble connecting, it displays an error message.
Before you retry, make sure other Internet applications and network connections are working because the problem could be with your network. Check your LiveUpdate configuration settings before trying again.
If you use America Online, CompuServe, or Prodigy to connect to the Internet, you may need to specify that connection in your computer’s Control Panel Internet Connection settings.

Am not sure what to do here, anybody help?? I had to reset web setting yesterday to get my Explorer back, so no doubt that has something to do with this latest prob!!

Make sure your disk is not full and run Live Update again.

have your checked if you have any space left on your hard drive :-

My computer select the hard drive which your Operating system is on then right clik and properties

2) how much virtual memory is being used ?

Hi well for the first bit my hard drive is exactly half used, and for the virtual memory thing, it says 32-bit, with system resources 34% free.

What now?

Am sure this has something to do with re-setting web settings last night as directed by AOL staff to restore IE.

1) how big is your hard drive

2) hard drive space is being used by virtual memory

Well my hard drive is 15GB

Virtual memory says 7590 MB Free

That is my C drive yes. Any other ideas bout web settings affecting it??

Yeah may be try lowering your web security settings in our browser.

Also if you run a Firewall you may need to set up a rule for it if its the first time u have done this since install.

I have no idea how to change security settings and I also have no clue what a firewall is (novice), I just waited hours to talk to tech chat people at AOL who gave me loads of stuff to try, and nothing worked so they said I'd have to uninstall AOL and install again! They said they couldnt comment on Norton.

You can get your NAV virus defs here. (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html) They have new ones about every two days whereas the live update doesn't have them as often.

Norton's live update constantly give me problems -- don't know why Symantec can't do a better job for the user.

Start - Search - Files and Folders; type in download. Find the one for Symantec's live update, click on it, and highlight all of the contents - click Delete.

Try running live update again. Sometimes this helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for all the advice, the problem was actually with AOL, I reinstalled it and the updates worked fine! Also my IE prob disappeared with the reinstallation too.
