Just like it says...I have 2 computers linked with crossover cable.
On the main machine, XP, I have Outlook 2002 with a POP account.
On the other machine, 98SE, I also have Outlook 2002. I want to know if there is a way of both computers sharing the same account over the network. So that the same folders such as "inbox" appear the same on both machines, and if I receive mail on one machine, it will still be in the inbox on the other one.
Please someone tell me this is possible!! :)

Thanks for any help!

I tried it with Outlook 2000 about 9 months ago...tried just about everything. Never got it to work. With a POP3 account the email gets pulled off the server and put onto whichever computer gets to it first. The file that it is stored in would not allow two users to access the same file. I don't remeber all that I tried since it was a while ago...but it's not looking good for you. Maybe someone else might have a better answer for you.

Hey folkies. You're definitely on track with the POP3 explanation in the posting above. However, here's a quick and easy work-around for you. In Outlook, create a .pst file (Personal folder) on one of the machines and share out the directory the file is in over the network. Next, have both Outlook clients map themselves to this file and Voila, you're in business. It's not a perfect copy of your inbox, but it does allow you to work off of a saved copy of your inbox on both machines AT THE SAME TIME. Post back and let me know if this works. The HELP file form Outlook will show you how to create a Personal Folder from within Outlook.

I'd tell you to use 'Net Folders', but alas...Outlook XP (2002) did away with them.

Use IMAP protocol instead of POP3 if your mail server supports it.
